Richard S. Roque is Managing Director of SA Capital Limited, a HK based private investment company engaged in triple bottom line impact investments with a particular focus on Human Development Enterprises in East Asia. Since early 2000 he has been involved in social enterprise ventures with an ed-tech focus both in East Asia as well as outside the region such as: Virtuous Leadership Institute (Asia) a capacity building project, Microbenefits a blue-collar worker tech platform in China and Southeast Asia, and other impact ventures involving performance-based software developer certification, a women’s educational radio network in Southern Philippines and Lumni, a human capital financing enterprise in Latin America. Mr Roque was previously associated for 12 years with William E. Simon & Sons (Asia) Limited, a regional Asian private equity firm based in Hong Kong and founded by the late US Treasury Secretary and he was also a director of the Sun Hung Kai China Investment Fund. He was Chairman of the Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association in 2000-01 (“HKVCA”) where he remains as Chairman Emeritus. Mr. Roque has a Global Executive MBA from IESE Business School, Barcelona, an MSc in Industrial Economics from the University of Asia and the Pacific, a BSc Industrial Management Engineering from De La Salle University and has taken the Executive Program in Social Entrepreneurship at Stanford University.
